The Role of Centrioles

What is the role of the centriole? Check it out:

"The living cell is an incredible/amazingly complex structure which science cannot even fully explain operationally. As the Virtual Cell site displays beautifully, the centrioles are structures within animal cells which are probably the key to understanding to some degree how the inanimate becomes animate and possibly even the source of consciousness to some limited degree. (Science now has little understanding if any of how consciousness comes about. Even if the centrioles play a role consciousness which can be somewhat understood by science, science will still be silent on what consciousness is (beyond an operational description), but may at least gain a small understanding of how it comes to be manifest in the physical world.)"
